
Thomas J. Walker joins ISF as Executive Director (Academic)

Today the Institute for Sustainable Finance (ISF) is announcing new academic leadership with the appointment of Dr. Thomas J. Walker as Executive Director (Academic). Dr. Walker will position ISF to fulfill a renewed mandate as the hub for academia, industry and government to ensure Canada’s financial sector is prepared to thrive in the low-carbon economy of the future.

Dr. Walker is currently a Professor of Finance and Director of the Emerging Risks Information Center at the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University. He will remain in these roles. He is also a member of the ISF Advisory Board.
Dr. Walker’s expertise includes risk management, corporate governance, securities litigation and regulation, sustainability and climate change, banking, initial public offerings, insider trading, institutional ownership, and venture capital.

His expertise includes risk management, corporate governance, securities litigation and regulation, sustainability and climate change, banking, initial public offerings, insider trading, institutional ownership, and venture capital.
The Institute for Sustainable Finance was launched in 2019 as the first-ever cross-cutting and collaborative hub in Canada that fuses academia, the private sector, and government with the singular focus of increasing Canada’s sustainable finance capacity. The institute's mission is to align mainstream financial markets with Canada’s transition to a prosperous sustainable economy.
