Advisory Board
The Advisory Board was created to establish and drive the Institute’s mission and to identify the potential for collaboration with other engaged parties across the country. It includes a mix of practitioners and academics.
Roger is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, a Trustee of the Douglas University Institute for Mental Health Foundation and a Director of the Cedars Cancer Foundation.
Currently serving as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Addenda Capital, he is responsible for the development and deployment of the company’s business strategy and operations. He joined Addenda Capital as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer in 2013, before being appointed President and Chief Operating Officer in 2015.
He previously worked at McLean Budden Limited (1999 to 2011), holding several senior management positions before being appointed President in 2006 and Chief Executive Officer in 2008.
Tabatha is the President and CEO of Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business. She is an Anishnaabe Kwe from Nipissing First Nation. As CCAB’s president and CEO she is committed to help rebuild and strengthen the path toward reconciliation and a prosperous Indigenous economy to benefit all Canadians. With a focus on Indigenous economic development, Tabatha often works with various heads of organizations, companies, government officials and departments, notably her role with the federal government’s COVID-19 Supply Council. She serves the Indigenous community through her commitment, duty, and support to Indigenous business and the economy. An electrical engineer, Tabatha informs Canada’s energy sector by participating on the boards of Ontario’s electricity system operator IESO, the Positive Energy Advisory Council, the MARS Energy Advisory Council, and the C.D. Howe Institute’s Energy Policy program.
A member of several other boards and committees, including Queens University Engineering Circle of Advisors, Centennial College Aboriginal Education Council, Wigwamen Housing, and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, Tabatha is dedicated to diversity and removing systematic barriers to improve opportunities and business competitiveness across all industry sectors.
Recently appointed to the Catalyst CEO advisory board in Canada, Tabatha collaborates with some of the world's most powerful CEOs and leading companies to help build workplaces that support women.
Tabatha is a proud mom of two boys and can often be found in a hockey arena, at the baseball diamond, or on the lacrosse field.
Andy is a member of the Board of Directors of Royal Bank of Canada. Prior to that he spent most of his career at Goldman Sachs & Co, which he joined in 1985 in New York. He served in a variety of progressively more senior leadership roles within the organization during his 30-year career including as Senior Strategy Officer of the firm globally from 2012 – 2014, as Head or co-Head of the Global Financial Institutions Group in both London and New York from 2002 – 2012, and as co- Chair of the Firmwide Commitments Committee (primarily overseeing the firm’s equity underwriting activities) from 2011 – 2015.
He is currently a member of the Federal government’s Expert Panel on Sustainable Finance. He holds a B. Comm from Queens University (1981) and graduated with an MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University in 1985. He is Chair of the Ivey Business School Advisory Board, is a Board Member of Evergreen, and sits on the Advisory Board of ArcTern Ventures. He lives in Toronto with his family.
Alexandra Conliffe is the Chief Executive Officer at the McCall MacBain Foundation. She has previously served as the Vice President of Philanthropy and Organizational Learning and for more than a decade in building and implementing programs and public policy in the non-profit and public sectors, with a focus on environment and global development. Her contributions range from her role as Canada’s agriculture negotiator at the United Nations Climate Change negotiations while a Senior Policy Analyst at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to studying the impacts of environmental and climate change on rural livelihoods in Uzbekistan through her doctoral research.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Alex was Director of Policy Innovation at the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship and VP Operations at Engineers Without Borders Canada. She holds a PhD in Geography and an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford, where she studied as a Rhodes Scholar. Alex obtained a BEng from McGill University, where she studied as a Loran Scholar. She is a member of the McGill Engineering Faculty Advancement Board.
Ehren Cory bring his strong leadership approach, infrastructure expertise and track-record of delivering results by partnering with the private and public sectors to the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB).
As Chief Executive Officer, he is focused on the CIB’s strategic direction including implementing the $10B Growth Plan to accelerate infrastructure investment in Canada and building the CIB as a results-oriented organization.
Prior to joining the CIB, Ehren was the President & CEO of Infrastructure Ontario, a Provincial Crown Agency responsible for financing, building, and enhancing the value of the province’s infrastructure and real estate assets. In addition to his four years as CEO, he also spent four years with the Agency in executive roles responsible for the successful transaction structuring, tendering, and delivery of billions of dollars in infrastructure projects.
Prior to joining Infrastructure Ontario, Ehren was a partner at McKinsey & Company in Toronto, where he served as a leader in the Public Sector and Capital Projects practices, advising clients in both the private and public sectors. Ehren is a graduate of the MBA program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau France, where he graduated with distinction. He also received an Honours degree in Business Administration (HBA) from the University of Western Ontario.
Nicolina is Program Director at the McConnell Foundation since 2014. She is involved in many key portfolios, including their focus area on net-zero and inclusion and sustainable finance work. She is also contributing to their strategy for communities' resilience, mental health collaborative projects and specific investments in the Montreal area where McConnell is based. She sits on the board of Imagine Canada and is part of the Public policy committee. Prior to working at the Foundation, she was Science and Innovation Officer with the British Consulate-General in Montréal. She also coordinated Ashoka Canada’s fellow selection process and worked as a consultant to several environmental and international development organizations. She has a PhD in environmental sciences, on the links between farming practices, deforestation and eco-health in Brazilian Amazonia.
Jonathan Hackett is the Co-Head, BMO Energy Transition Group and Head, Sustainable Finance and Managing Director. In these roles he advises clients on opportunities as they navigate the transition to a low carbon economy, supports clients in navigating the impact of ESG on their access to capital, and advises on sustainable financing structures. Jonathan’s team also includes BMO’s $250MM impact investment fund which has a mandate to invest in companies that are producing solutions in the sustainability and energy transition space. Prior to joining BMO in 2017, Jonathan was a principal with the Boston Consulting Group and also a researcher in residence at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics where he completed his doctoral research in Quantum Gravity and Topology.
Yrjo Koskinen

Yrjo Koskinen the BMO Professor of Sustainable and Transition Finance at the Haskayne School of Business. He served as the Associate Dean of Research and Business Impact from 2017 to 2022. He has previously been a faculty member at Stockholm School of Economics, Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He holds an MSc degree in Economics from the University of Helsinki, and a PhD in Management (Finance) from INSEAD. Prior to his academic career, Yrjö worked as a financial journalist, asset manager and as an economist at the Bank of Finland.
Yrjo currently serves on the advisory board of the Institute of Sustainable Finance at Queen’s University and on the steering committee for the Canadian Sustainable Finance Network. He is also a fellow at the Nordic Initiative in Corporate Economics and a research member at the European Corporate Governance Institute. He is the past co-president of the Northern Finance Association.
Yrjo’s main research areas are corporate finance and governance, and sustainable finance. His current research focuses on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues and how they affect trading and prices in financial markets. His research has been published in the leading finance and management journals, such as the Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Review of Finance. He is the recipient of the Standard Life Investments Finance Prize for his research on corporate social responsibility and firm risk.
Kikelomo Lawal is the global leader for CIBC’s Legal, Corporate Secretary, Ombudsman and Privacy Office functions, and related policies and programs. She is also responsible for leading the development of the environmental, social and governance strategy across the bank. Kikelomo has 25 years of progressive leadership experience, including legal expertise as both a trial lawyer and a transactional lawyer.
Prior to joining CIBC, Kikelomo was Chief Legal Officer, Ombudsman and Corporate Secretary at Interac Corporation, and, prior to that, she practiced law at firms on Bay Street in Toronto and Wall Street in New York City.
A mentor to many, Kikelomo contributes her time as a Board member and advisor to various organizations. In 2020, she was recognized as one of WXN’s “Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada”. In 2019, she was named one of the 25 Most Influential Women in Payments, and in 2018 she was shortlisted for the National Post General Counsel of the Year Award. Kikelomo is a graduate of Harvard Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from New York University.
Jim is Chancellor Emeritus of Queen’s University, and former President and CEO of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, one of the world's largest plans.
Previously, Mr. Leech was president and CEO of Unicorp Canada Corporation, one of Canada's first public merchant banks, and Union Energy Inc., then one of North America's largest integrated energy companies. Mr. Leech is: a Senior Advisor with McKinsey & Company; Chair Emeritus, UHN Foundation; on the Investment Committee of the MasterCard Foundation; the former Honorary Colonel of 32 Signal Regiment, Canadian Forces; Board member of Historica Canada; and a founding director of Right To Play International.
Mr. Leech has been a member of Queen's Board of Trustees, University Council, and Chair of Smith School of Business Advisory Board. In 2013, he co-authored The Third Rail, Confronting our Pension Failures, a best-selling book that received the 2013-2014 National Business Book Award.
In 2012, he was awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal in recognition of his work with the True Patriot Love Foundation; in 2014, was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada for his contributions to Canada as an innovator in pension management, for his writings on the subject of retirement funding, and for his community involvement; in 2018 was awarded the Canadian Decoration for his military service; and in 2019 was awarded the Order of Ontario for his pioneering work in pension management, philanthropic leadership and public service.
Mr. Leech holds a B.Sc. (Hons. Math and Physics) and an LL.D from the Royal Military College of Canada and an MBA from Queen's University. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Bruce is one of Canada’s most influential leaders and thinkers in the environment sector. Bruce boasts an expertise on toxic substances, green energy, forest conservation, and environmental philanthropy that is second to none.
Lourie is the President of The Ivey Foundation, a private charitable foundation focusing on environmental policy change; a director of the Ontario Power Authority; a director of the Ontario Trillium Foundation; and a Chair of the Board of Environmental Defense Canada.
He is also the founder of a number of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations including Summerhill Group, a prominent market transformations consultancy specializing in energy conservation and renewable energy; the Sustainability Network; the Enerquality Corporation; and the Canadian Environmental Grantmakers’ Network. He was also the founding executive director of the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance and the founding president of the Clean Air Foundation. Many of the organizations he helped create are now regarded as models in their field.
Lesley Marks is Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Equities for Mackenzie Investments. She oversees approximately 110 investment professionals who are involved in the day-to-day management of Mackenzie funds across the firm’s 12 equity boutiques. As CIO, Lesley is responsible for more than $65-billion of Mackenzie’s assets under management.
Lesley is a seasoned investment leader with more than 25 years of experience across asset and wealth management, including 22 years at the Bank of Montreal. During her tenure at BMO, Lesley was a CIO in both Asset Management and Wealth Management and prior to that had an extensive successful track record as a portfolio manager of Canadian equity portfolios.
Lesley is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
Andrea leads Addenda’s stewardship efforts which includes active engagement with companies and issuers on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) matters to enhance the long-term value of investments for clients. This also includes actively promoting sustainable financial markets by collaborating with experts and engaging with standard-setters and policy-makers to create a more sustainable and net-zero aligned economy and market.
Previously, Andrea was the Vice President of The Ivey Foundation. She brings over 20 years of experience managing environment and sustainability issues in the public, private, investment, and non-government sectors in Canada and the U.S. Prior to Ivey, Andrea was the Vice-President of the Corporate Program at Ceres, where she led Ceres’ work with more than 80 companies on sustainability issues such as climate, energy, water, and supply chains.
She was the lead author of The 21st Century Corporation: The Ceres Roadmap for Sustainability and corporate benchmarking reports based on this framework. Andrea also serves on the board of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) Experimental Lakes Area, and the Advisory Boards for the Canada Climate Law Initiative, Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia, and the Institute for Sustainable Finance, Smith School of Business, Queen’s University.
Lindsay Patrick is Managing Director and Head of Strategy, Marketing and Sustainability at RBC Capital Markets and a member of the firm’s Operating Committee.
Lindsay is responsible for the advancement of the RBC Capital Markets’ business, brand, and marketing strategy, supporting the firm’s overall growth and performance ambitions. She is a senior adviser on ESG matters to the Group Executive and the wider RBC enterprise, providing insight and guidance in respect of our Capital Markets client base and the transition to net zero. Lindsay also oversees the Sustainable Finance Group, and with her global team, spearheads the provision of solutions and advice for RBC’s institutional and corporate clients across all areas of sustainable finance that incorporates both environmental and social perspectives.
Lindsay has over two decades experience in investment banking, spanning trading floors across North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. She began her career with RBC Capital Markets in Investment Banking in Toronto and spent 10 years across variety of positions in Global Equities with a global bank in London before returning to RBC Capital Markets in 2016.
Lindsay is passionate about talent development and is active in advancing important initiatives related to Diversity and Inclusion. Within RBC, she is a mentor to numerous colleagues, supporting their growth and development across the bank.
Lindsay received her MBA with Honours in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, her BBA with Honours in International Business from Bishop’s University, is a CFA Charterholder and completed the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing. Lindsay sits on the Advisory Board for the Institute of Sustainable Finance and is recognized as leader in sustainability in Canada as a Clean50 Honoree. She is an active volunteer within her local community and serves on the Board Directors for the Oakville Community Foundation. Lindsay is married and the proud mother of four boys.
Based in Toronto and with a national mandate, David Pinsonneault leads TD Business Banking which includes the segments of Small Business Banking, Commercial Banking, National Accounts, Agriculture, TD Equipment Finance (leasing), Merchant Solutions (credit card payment systems and online payment solutions) and Financial Restructuring.
David joined TD Bank Group in February 2017. He previously led TD Business Banking Quebec and Atlantic Regions from 2009 to 2014 as Senior Vice President.
David joined TD Bank Group after a 16-year career at National Bank of Canada where he held various management positions in business development, risk management and projects. This led him to become head of Business Banking and the International sector. Before becoming a banker, David taught finance at HEC Montreal.
David holds a B.A.A. from the University of Sherbrooke, a graduate degree in commerce, administration and finance from the École Supérieure de Commerce de Poitiers in France and an M.Sc. in finance from HEC Montreal.
Outside of work, David enjoys supporting causes related to entrepreneurship, diversity, and sustainability initiatives. He is currently Chairman of the TD Sustainable Finance Executive Council, member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Sustainable Finance (Queen's University), member of the TD Inclusion & Diversity Leadership Council, member of the Board of Governors of the School of Management of the Sherbrooke University and a founding member of Ontario Global 100. He was a member of the Board of Directors and chair of the Audit Committee of the Beauce Entrepreneurship School, founding member of Quebec Global 100, Governors of Finance Montreal and chaired the Quebec chapter of TD Friends of the Environment Foundation.
Jennifer Reynolds is the CEO of Women Corporate Directors Foundation (WCD). WCD is the world's largest network of women corporate board directors, with more than 2500 members serving on more than 8,500 public and private boards around the globe.
Jennifer’s 25 year career in the financial services industry has included senior roles in investment banking, venture capital, and global risk management. Prior to joining WCD, Jennifer served as the President & CEO of Toronto Finance International (TFI), a public-private partnership which promotes and develops Canada’s financial services sector, and serves as the international representative for the Toronto financial centre. Prior to joining TFI, Jennifer was the President & CEO of Women in Capital Markets (WCM), Canada’s largest industry association and advocacy group for women in the financial sector.
Jennifer is a former Director on the Board of Citibank Canada, current Director on the Board of BF&M Insurance Group Ltd, Director on the Board of the Canada Development Investment Corporation ("CDEV"), and a Director on the Board of Women’s College Hospital Foundation. Jennifer is the Co-Chair of the UN convened Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S) network and also serves on the Advisory Council for the Institute of Sustainable Finance. In 2015 and 2017, she was named a Women's Executive Network (WXN) Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award Winner.
Jennifer is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Women's Leadership program, and she received her MBA from McGill University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Economics and Political Science from McGill University. Jennifer also holds the Institute of Corporate Directors Designation, ICD.D.
Pamela is the president and CEO of CPA Canada. Prior to assuming this role, she was the chief financial and corporate strategy officer at Payments Canada. She also served as chief financial officer and head of finance and employer services for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
In 2016, Pamela was named a Fellow of the profession and in 2019, she was honored as Canada’s CFO of the Year.
Today, Pamela sits on the City of Toronto Investment Board, the board of Michael Garron Hospital and the University of Waterloo’s School of Accounting and Finance advisory council.She is an active and founding member of the advisory board for the Institute for Sustainable Finance. Pamela was also a founding member of the Canadian Chapter of the Accounting for Sustainability CFO Leadership Network.
Craig Stewart leads national work on disaster resilience and climate change at the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) - the industry association representing the property and casualty insurance industry in Canada. IBC’s members employ over 122,000 Canadians and paid out $9.8 billion in property claims in 2016, primarily due to severe weather and wildfire. Previous to his work with IBC, Craig directed the Ottawa Bureau and Arctic program for WWF Canada, handled pandemic liaison, trade liaison and humanitarian donations for GlaxoSmithKline (Canada) Ltd., directed a $60 million federal/provincial/territorial program at Natural Resources Canada to elevate the Canadian geospatial industry and founded the Miistakis Institute at the University of Calgary. Craig holds a Master of Science from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Toronto. He is the author of two atlases on the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, British Columbia and Montana.
Meigan Terry is the Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability, Social Impact and Communications Officer at Scotiabank. In this role, she leads the strategic execution of the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and sustainability strategy, ScotiaRISE, the Bank’s social impact program as well as Scotiabank’s enterprise-wide stakeholder communications in support of the Bank’s strategy.
Meigan joined Scotiabank in 2018. Over the course of her career at the Bank, she has expanded her mandate and delivered a number of critical initiatives including: the creation of ScotiaRISE, our 10-year initiative to invest $500 million to foster economic resilience among disadvantaged groups; Spark, our Employee Giving and Volunteering platform and, Scotiabank’s Climate Strategy.
Throughout her career, she has delivered social impact, sustainability, global communications, brand management, corporate affairs, and employee engagement for iconic global brands. Prior to joining Scotiabank, she was Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Communications with Virgin Atlantic in the U.K. where she managed all aspects of communications, brand management, public policy, government affairs and social media. Meigan also led Virgin Atlantic’s sustainability, environment and community investment programs, in addition to acting as executive sponsor for the Virgin Atlantic Foundation. Meigan has also held senior communications roles at BlackBerry, and WPP Consultancy Hill & Knowlton in London.
Meigan chairs Scotiabank’s Climate Steering Committee and serves on the Advisory Board for the Institute for Sustainable Finance (Queen’s University).
Peter is an economist, investment strategist, author, podcaster and dynamic public speaker. His presentations inspire, guide and spark discussion.
A respected industry leader, Peter is frequently called on to share his knowledge of strategic business issues with investors, corporate leaders, policy makers and educators. His Energyphile project, including his latest book, The Investor Visit and Other Stories: Disruption, Denial and Transition in the Energy Business, embodies his unique approach to analysing the biggest challenges facing society today. Peter’s earlier books — A Thousand Barrels a Second and The End of Energy Obesity — were both bestsellers.
Peter has more than 30 years of experience in the business of energy, spanning all systems, from oil and gas to renewables. His holistic knowledge of finance, physics, innovation and economics forms a foundation for his unvarnished, balanced and thought-provoking presentations on how audiences should think about sustainable energy solutions.
Dr Walker is the founder of the Emerging Risks Information Center, which conducts targeted research on environmental, technological, and societal risks that affect our world today. Since its inception, the Center has employed over twenty Ph.D., Master’s, and undergraduate students who serve as research assistants and co-editors/co-authors on various research projects
Dr. Walker was awarded an Outstanding Teaching Award from Washington State University and a Fellowship for Experienced Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany. Dr. Walker has served as Laurentian Bank Professor in Integrated Risk Management (2010-2015), Chair of the Finance Department (2011-2014), Director/Co-director of the David O’Brien Centre for Sustainable Enterprise (2015-2017), and as Associate Dean, Research and Research Programs (2016-2017).
In addition, he has been an active member of Finance Montréal, the steering committee of the Montreal chapter of the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA), the academic advisory board of the MMI/Morningstar Sustainable Investing Initiative, the advisory board for Palgrave Macmillan’s Future Earth book series on sustainability, the advisory board of Concordia’s Institute of Aerospace Design & Innovation (CIADI), and the advisory board of Concordia’s Institute for Water, Energy and Sustainable Systems.
Barbara Zvan is the Inaugural President and Chief Executive Officer of the University Pension Plan Ontario (UPP) and former Chief Risk and Strategy Officer for the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. Recognized as a leading voice on sustainable investing and an ambassador for defined benefit pensions, Barbara is known for her efforts to bring institutional strength to complex challenges and forge new collaborative pathways for innovation and growth. She serves on the boards of various global institutions and associations focused on pension management, risk and responsible investing, including the Global Risk Institute, Responsible Investment Association and the advisory board of the Institute of Sustainable Finance at Smith School of Business. She was appointed to the Government of Canada’s Expert Panel on Sustainable Finance, is a member of the Advisory Committee for the new ‘Investing to Address Climate Change’ Charter and played a significant role in creating the G7 Investor Leadership Network.
Barbara is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, a holder of the Institute of Corporate Directors designation (ICD.D) and has a Master of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo. She is an honouree of Canada's 2020 Clean50 and Canada's 2008 Top 40 Under 40.
