Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I want two MBA degrees?
Executive MBA Americas is the only program of its kind in the world. It is made possible through a partnership between two of North America's premier business schools - Smith School of Business and the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, one of the original U.S. Ivy League Schools. The classroom experience is shared by Canadian and American participants and the curriculum is taught by outstanding professors from both Smith and Cornell. Graduates leave this unique program with both a Queen's MBA and a Cornell MBA degree, and become full-fledged alumni of both schools, giving you a personal network that spans North America.
What is the application fee?
No fees are due until you are accepted into the program.
When is the application deadline?
At Smith we conduct a rolling admission whereby as soon as your application file is complete it is reviewed and an admission decision is made. Due to the limited number of spaces and popularity of this program, there is usually a waiting list. We encourage you to apply early. Please note there is no application fee.
Is the GMAT a requirement?
The Executive MBA Americas program does not initially require applicants to write the GMAT. Applicants considering our program will be evaluated on the depth of their work experience, academic background, and management/leadership skills. In some cases the GMAT may be recommended as a way to strengthen an application file.
Where do I go for the global business project?
You and your team will decide where in the world you will go for the Global Business Project.
What is the time commitment – how many hours a week?
The program schedule typically requires a commitment of 25 hours each week, including class times. Exams, projects, and assignments are divided evenly throughout the year so that you can develop a regular work pattern.
Is there more than one start date?
Our Executive MBA class has one intake per year, with the program starting in June each year. We receive applications and issue acceptances into the program year round.
