My role / responsibilities as the Director of Finance and Operations are to monitor the financial accounts and operations of the student run MBA lounge and any fund-raising activities or SEC events. The role also includes ensuring class events and activities run in an efficient manner. Details of additional responsibilities include:
I wanted to join the SEC because I have always enjoyed working with all aspects of finance and budgeting. At the young age of 10 I was given a share of stock for my birthday which sparked an interest in business. Prior to starting the MBA I had a successful career in Hedge Fund Valuation and Capital Markets operations. I also enjoy tracking my own personal finances, as well as assisting friends and family in doing the same. Lastly, since meeting all of the class of 2026, it sparked a desire in me to make sure we all get the most out of this experience. Being that our MBA program is only one year, I wanted to do my part in making sure we have the most memorable experience possible. We also have several students who travelled from all over the world to come here for the program, with this being their first time to Canada. A lot of those students are living far from their families, and it was important to me to make sure they feel welcome and have an enjoyable experience.
I plan to actively review our class funds and make sure they are budgeted for throughout the year. I will make sure that after each event, the financial records are updated timely and accurately. I also plan on working closely with any vendors to ensure services are provided without issue and the various clubs can have successful events. When discussing potential events, I will make sure that if I do not believe something is feasible, I mention it during our SEC meetings.
