I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

it is the best in Canada, highly recognized by the job market, and provides a strong competitive advantage—something particularly important as I transition from Brazil to Canada. I was looking for a program that combined academic excellence with leadership development, and Smith stood out due to its team-based learning model, small class size, and strong alumni network. The collaborative environment not only enhances technical skills but also plays a crucial role in developing soft skills, such as leadership, adaptability, and effective communication. Working in teams with professionals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds has been instrumental in preparing me for the realities of today’s global business environment.

If I could go back one year, I would advise myself to fully embrace the experience and step out of my comfort zone. The Smith MBA is a fast-paced journey, and making the most of it requires proactivity—whether in networking, participating in extracurriculars, or seeking mentorship. One key tip for applicants is to approach the program with an open mind. Be ready to develop skills you may not have considered before, and be willing to challenge yourself beyond what feels comfortable. The Smith MBA is not just about learning business concepts—it’s about transforming the way you think, lead, and solve problems.

My goal is to refine my strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to transition into a leadership role in consulting. By leveraging Smith’s immersive learning approach and extensive network, I aim to gain hands-on experience and develop a strong foundation for a long-term career in strategy consulting.
