I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...
of two reasons: the multifaceted learning environment and the people. The team-based learning approach is one of the many unique teaching models Smith applies. It offers Smith candidates opportunities to take on cases and simulations with other driven individuals who come from vastly different backgrounds and experiences. This collaboration complements the personalized aspects of the program, such as one-on-one career and executive coaching. The second reason I chose Smith was the interactions I had with the administration staff, students, and alumni. It became clear early on that people at Smith brought the best out of me, and ultimately, those are the type of people I want to surround myself with on this transformative journey.
My advice to MBA applicants is to think about how this program aligns with your long-term career goals. A good way to find the answer to that question is to talk to current students, alumni, and application advisors. When I was applying, I reached out to various current students and alumni. They all offered insightful feedback that helped shape my career outlook.
As of the time of writing, my post-MBA goal is to leverage my learnings, industry experience, and functional experience into a strategy role within the infrastructure space. I am also keeping an open mind and “letting the program surprise me,” to quote one of the great alums I talked to.
