I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...
because of the collaborative aspect the program focuses on. I aim to work in high-performing teams, and Smith does an excellent job at fostering these relationships. The other appeal was from the program staff and faculty, from the application process to the interview, and up to this day, Smith is continuously supportive of student initiatives, ideas, and success.
If I could go back one year, I would tell myself to be less anxious about the experience ahead. Entering the Smith MBA can be daunting, but it is a wonderful experience. The individuals that make up each cohort are uniquely selected and bring a variety of lived experiences that enrich the overall experience for the class.
I would highly recommend getting accustomed to utilizing and inputting all your information into the Outlook calendar, it is the best way to track your classes and activities throughout the year. Familiarizing yourself with a productivity software, such as Notion, is also a great idea before entering the program!
Through this experience, I am hoping to learn, to make connections, and to succeed. I hope to continuously learn from the breadth of experiences my peers have and from the incredible professors who share their knowledge with us. I am here to improve upon my own experiences, and I believe the best way to do that is through committing myself to my education and classmates.
I aim to make connections as well. Entering a new industry or pivoting your career is not always easy and my goal is to create a broad network of professionals from my peers, alum, and external parties to focus on building relationships first and career opportunities second.
Most of all I hope to succeed. To me, success isn’t a selfish endeavour. It means supporting those around me to be successful while I strive for the same. I look to build community, and to be a part of a team that supports one another to reach their goals.
