I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

of the perfect blend of being a world-class institution with a condensed, intensive program that minimized your time away from industry while maximizing learning, and a transition made easy by the extremely personable approach to their rolling applications process. The one-on-one interaction with the application advisors made the process seamless, and it made you feel like Smith was genuinely invested in you as a person.

The team-based approach and curriculum, through guided coaching, allows you to learn and explore team dynamics, while challenging you academically in order to succeed and overcome competing demands. Smith’s focus on team performance and career coaching are second-to-none and is worth its weight in gold.

My advice to myself one year ago would have been to take advantage of the opportunity in the workplace to observe and study team dynamics closely, whether as a leader or a team member; having that real-life perspective on professional teams in the workplace will only help to elevate your experience at Smith and allow you to hit the ground running.

My advice for current applicants is to take the time to reflect on yourself and your experiences. Knowing your own values and skillsets will help you to connect with others and contribute valuable perspectives to your teams.

My goal is to gain as many skills as possible and exposure to the corporate environment; while I will be returning to the Canadian Armed Forces upon completion of this program, the knowledge and skillsets I learn here will elevate my ability to create positive change as a senior leader in the military.
