Profile

Full Bio

Edem is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Smith School of Business, Queen's University. Before joining Queen's University, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Edem’s research revolves around transformative services, financial technology, and consumers at the bottom of the pyramid. His work lies at the intersection of marketing and policy, allowing him to draw implications based on causal economic impacts and uncover underlying mechanisms that shed light on why and how these impacts occur. Understanding these mechanisms provides valuable managerial insights, ensuring that products or services reach the appropriate consumers most effectively.

His current projects focus on market disruptions and digital innovations. For instance, his job market paper explores the economic inequality of lockdowns, falling within the realm of market disruptions, while another project centers on microloans and consumption related to the domain of digital innovations.

Edem received his PhD from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He earned his MSc and BSc from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and the University of Ghana, respectively.
