Smith School of Business - Postdoctoral Fellow in Analytics

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in management analytics at Smith School of Business, Queen’s University. Commencing in August 2025, this position is for one year with a possibility of extension. The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Operations Management/ Operations Research /Industrial Engineering or a relevant discipline and a record that demonstrates their research potential. 

Eligible postdoctoral fellow candidates must have the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be within five years of receiving their PhD
  • Be available to work full time, in-person at Smith School of Business in Kingston, Ontario
  • Have completed all requirements for their doctoral degree before starting

 The successful candidate will work on a research project that involves the application of data analytics and operations research techniques in devising financial and behavioral incentives to promote good health and wellbeing. The project is led by Drs. Vedat Verter and Beste Kucukyazici in the auspices Smith Health Analytics Initiative. Queen's University is located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, where the postdoctoral fellow will be required to reside.

 The candidate should have excellent modeling and analytical skills in optimization and as well as experience in analyzing large data sets using advanced machine learning algorithms. Previous experience in healthcare operations or expertise in large-scale optimization models and/or stochastic processes will be an asset.

 

 



 

Qualifications

Eligible candidates must have completed their PhD in the past five years.
